The computerised birth certificate is the National Population Commission's standard issuance under the Births, Deaths, etc. (Compulsory Registration) Act Cap B9 LFN 2004. Three documents cover the field: the NPC computerised certificate for births registered in childhood, the NPC Attestation of Birth for adult late-registration cases, and the court-issued age declaration where no NPC route is possible.

Adults whose births were not registered within the 60-day statutory window under Cap B9 LFN 2004 route through one of three NPC or court surfaces: late registration at the NPC state office under section 10(2), the Attestation of Birth through the NPC attestation portal, or a court age declaration where no NPC route is available. The document the applicant obtains is what NIMC at NIN enrolment, NIS at first-passport, and other downstream verifiers read.

Correcting an NPC birth certificate is the upstream step that permits the downstream identity-stack correction at NIMC, the bank's BVN-side reading, the passport at NIS, and any other verifier that ultimately reads the NPC source. A NIMC modification submitted before NPC is corrected will be undone at the next cache refresh against the NPC record.
